Batman, the Caped Crusader, first appeared in DC Comics back in 1939. Since then Batman and his sidekick Robin, have been re-invented for each new generation.

The popularity of Batman took a huge leap with the 1960s TV show which showed Batman duelling with enimeis such as the Joker, Penguin and the Riddler.

Since then several blockbuster movies have been made, as well as numerous cartoon series and Batman remains a firm favourite with kids of all ages. Unsurprisingly, toy manufacturers have sprung action and produced action figures based on the latest Batman film - Batman Begins. Some of the more original Batman toys include toys based on Batmans famous gadgets.
